Will Hillary Clinton's emails be put to rest?
FBI Director James Comey announced today he will not recommend indicting Hilary Clinton on the basis of her private email use.
"Our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case," said Comey.
Although the FBI found no clear evidence that she intended to violate the law, Comey said Clinton and her staff were "extremely careless" in their handling of classified information. Comey strongly criticized Clinton's staff, saying eight email chains had information that was classified as top secret at the time they were sent, and that it is possible hostile actors could've gained access to the emails.
This announcement comes days after FBI agents interviewed the presumptive Democratic nominee about her emails for more than three hours, on July 2. Comey was clear this investigation was thorough and independent of any influence from other branches of government.
