On Sept. 27, Washington, D.C., officials released video of Terrence Sterling’s final moments after being shot by a police officer on Sept. 11. Sterling was on his motorcycle when it struck the door of a police cruiser. Officer Brian Trainer shot him shortly afterward.

Police have said that Sterling intentionally collided into the police cruiser. Several witnesses disagreed. The video, recorded by a body camera worn by Trainer, wasn't turned on until after he shot Sterling. Expected to provide clarity to the circumstances of the incident, the video only shows an already-shot Sterling surrounded by Trainer and others.

Warning: Video contains graphic footage. Discretion advised.

Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, D.C., has stated that 911 dispatchers will in the future remind police officers to turn on their body camera before they arrive at scenes. The shooting is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
