Not Just For City Folks

I have recently been pleasantly surprised to read more stories and blog posts that bring attention to rural causes. “Nashville’s New Groove” (by Bob Smietana, April 2009) and “Food Safety and Small Town Justice” (by Jim Goodman, www.GodsPolitics.com), are examples.

Where I live and call home, the most rural part of northern Michigan, we’re hurting a lot as well. Every day it seems another local farm goes under, or one of the mines or paper mills shuts down, laying off hundreds. So it’s nice to see that there is a group within the progressive Christian community who acknowledges the struggle in this part of America as well.
