I RECEIVED MY first issue of Sojourners and was ecstatic to find not only a hint of an article about Henri Nouwen on the front cover, but several articles about him inside (November-December 1996). Thank you so much. I was able to go to the funeral of this man I admired but never met.
My thanks and praise to Carolyn Whitney-Brown, Jim Wallis, Diana L. Chambers, and Brett Grainger for taking the time to write not just about Henri, but about the reality of Henri and how he touched lives, how he struggled, how he delved, and how God reached us through this broken, holy man.
A few years ago I lived in a community and periodically read through Sojourners. This initial renewal of contact with you has been heartening. Thank you again for giving space to honor a man whom most of us will only meet in heaven. Certainly he gave spiritual food for thought to many more than Catholics.
