In "High Stakes for Church and State" (November 2004), Jim Wallis writes a compelling analysis, reminding us of the authority of Jesus' words on war and peace and social justice issues. If only it were possible to get the attention of the Religious Right and remind them that no matter how many times they read the gospels, there isn't a single reference that deals with gays, lesbians, or abortion. In fact, it is hard to imagine Jesus embracing anything that Republicans currently advocate, from their approach to health care to privatizing social security to fighting terrorism. So how is it that only Democrats are accused of having a "God Gap" problem?
