Book: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

We’re embarking on a reading journey through Octavia Butler's works, starting with the Parable of the Sower! This visionary novel speaks powerfully to our work in organizing and advocacy. It challenges us to ask: How do we build community and shape change in uncertain times?
Our first session begins Thursday, November 6th at 6 PM ET. We’ll start with Chapters 1–7, exploring Robledo, the protagonist, Lauren Olamina and her family, and the beginnings of Earthseed—Butler’s philosophy that “God is Change.”
Just as Lauren gathers people to survive and grow amid chaos, our series will explore how storytelling can strengthen our movements—teaching us to adapt, collaborate, and lead with vision.
