The United States is in the midst of a countdown to an historic election, in times of great polarisation within, and numerous armed conflicts, as well as democratic and human rights' decline, around the world.  The elections in the United States are keenly watched by democrats and autocrats alike, in all corners of our shared world.  History notes that outcomes of US elections are rarely limited to the nation, but have ripple effects well beyond its oceanic borders.

At the same time, religious discourses are increasingly mainstreamed into political discourses, often in ways that make it difficult to disentangle. Gauging from several ongoing conflicts, these linkages are not necessarily always conducive to social cohesion and sustainable peace.  So, what kind of Leadership Can Build a Beloved Community in times like these?

Rev. Adam Russell Taylor, President of Sojourners, and author of A More Perfect Union: A New Vision for Building the Beloved Community, will be sharing his vision, in discussion with Dr. Hussein Rashid (Assistant Dean for Religion and Public Life at Harvard Divinity School) and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik (Executive Vice President of The New York Board of Rabbis).
