Verse of the Day: John 8:7-9
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’ And once again he bent down and wrote on the ground. When they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders; and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.

Prayer of the Day: Surrounded by Your Mercy
God of the Ages, Christ, the Alpha and the Omega of history, Holy Spirit, You who fill and connect all things. We know that in You a thousand years are a single day, and a single day is a thousand years. Your today does not give way to tomorrow, your now does not follow yesterday, You Live in the eternal present, where all things are one, and forgiven, and surrounded by mercy. Amen.
- Richard Rohr

Voice of the Day: Seeing with God's Eyes
"Our communities bear witness to the wounding effects of racism, prejudice, intolerance, evil, and injustice of all sorts. We are called to see with God's eyes and be awakened to the reality of the world around us. We are also called to be God's presence in this world, to be a part of the answer to its problems. We are not to be silent but are called, in some way, to take a stand."

Verse of the Day: James 2:5-7
Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that [God] has promised to those who love [God]? But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into court? Is it not they who blaspheme the excellent name that was invoked over you?

Voice of the Day: Called to Rest
"We are called to seek justice, not to burn out seeking it. I am not going to fix the world by myself. I have to realize the fact that sometimes I try to do too much and end up doing nothing. ... My soul will be restored every time my efforts toward environmental, social, or economic justice are put into action, one step at a time. This restoration is also my rest. We must work to sustain the rhythm God has built into life. God worked and rested. We must do the same. Jesus taught and healed, then retreated. We can follow his example."

Prayer of the Day: Enflame Our Hearts
Creator God, enflame our hearts to recognize the work of your hands in the natural world, as well as in the faces of the people who rely on your grace the most: the poor, the sick, the weak. Help us to remain humble as we do your work in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Day: Heaven of Freedom
Where the mind is without fear and the head is heal high; where knowledge is free. Where words come out from the depth of truth; where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way in to the dreary desert sand of dead habit. Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action--into that heaven of freedom, my God, let my country awake. Amen.
-Rabindranath Tagore
Verse of the Day: Nehemiah 9:9
Prayer of the Day: We Entrust Our Lives
Lord, hear our prayer. May our mission to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world help to plant the seeds of faith in the hearts of those who hear the Word. We are thankful for your transforming grace. May we entrust our lives to you as we accept in faith your invitation to the fullness of life. Amen.

The mother's service is nearest, readiest, and surest. It is nearest because it is more natural; readiest because it is most loving; and surest because it is truest. No one ever might or could perfrom this office fully, except only Jesus. We know that all our mothers bear us for pain and for death. Oh, what is that? But our true Mother Jesus, he alone bears us for joy and for endless life. So he carries us with him in love and travail.

Verse of the Day: Mark 4:30-32
He also said, ‘With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.’

Prayer of the Day: Bear the Name of Christ
God, to know Jesus' name and yet commandeer its power for our pride is a great offense. We ask forgiveness for the ways we have failed to live up to the name Christian. Strengthen us by your Spirit to bear the name of Christ in the self-giving way your Son demonstrated. Amen.

Prayer of the Day: May God's Grace Transform Power Structures
Humbled before you we pray: For all in positions in power, may they carry out their work in the knowledge that their position is a gift from God, we pray. May God's grace transform power structures that generate oppression into signs of God's grace. Amen.
Voice of the Day: Seeking God's Redemption
"Revenge is not justice. Revenge is biting and devouring and life-consuming and self-indulgent. Instead of being seduced into supposedly getting back at that person, however temporarily satisfying that might feel, we are better off ... fervently seeking to be a part of God's redemption and healing." - Nancee Martin, Nancee Martin, from "Women at the Well" + Sign up to receive our quote of the day via e-mail
