On Dec. 11, four of the 16 women who have publicly accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct held a live press conference on Facebook with Brave New Films, calling for a congressional investigation into the allegations against Trump.
During the 2016 presidential election, at least 16 women came forward with accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Trump, spanning decades. Trump has continually rejected the allegations as false, despite the 2005 tape recording in which Trump boasts about grabbing and kissing women without their consent.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, the four women, Rachel Crooks, Samantha Holvey, Jessica Leeds, and Lisa Boyne, urged Congress to investigate their claims.
"It became apparent that in some areas, the accusations of sexual aggression were being taken seriously and people were being held accountable ― except for our president,” Leeds said. “We’re at the position now where in some areas of our society, people are being held accountable for unwanted behavior, but we are not holding our president accountable for what he is and who he is."
The press conference comes just one day after Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, said to CBS News' "Face the Nation," "I think we heard from them prior to the election. And I think any woman who has felt violated or felt mistreated in any way, they have every right to speak up."
