The National Religious Campaign Against Torture is sponsoring a major religious public event today in front of the White House. This witness will ask President Obama to create a Commission of Inquiry that can provide an accounting of U.S.-sponsored torture policies and practices so that necessary safeguards can be put into place to assure that torture never happens again. The interfaith event will feature national heads of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith groups and other senior religious leaders. There will be a press event at the National Press Club, followed by the gathering in front of the White House.
If you're in the Washington, D.C. area, gather in Lafayette Park across from the White House at noon. The program will begin at 12:15 p.m. EDT.
