Dead Sea Scrolls go digital
The Dead Sea scrolls, 2,000 parchment and papyrus copies of 974 biblical texts, have been pixilated for the digital age. In a partnership between Google and the Israel Museum, five of the manuscripts are now able online HERE and can be searched, enlarged, and translated with the click of a button. The five manuscripts available now in digital form include the oldest copy of Hebrew scripture in existence, the Isaiah Scroll. More documents to be made available in the coming years. Occupy Wall Street rediscovers the radical imagination
Writing in the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper, David Graeber says the (largely) young Americans protesting Wall Street in various "Occupy" demonstrations are stepping up to reclaim their future. "We are watching the beginnings of the defiant self-assertion of a new generation of Americans, a generation who are looking forward to finishing their education with no jobs, no future, but still saddled with enormous and unforgivable debt," Graeber wrote on Sunday (9/25.) "Most, I found, were of working-class or otherwise modest backgrounds, kids who did exactly what they were told they should: studied, got into college, and are now not just being punished for it, but humiliated
