Nearly two years after the shooting death of Laquan McDonald, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson is seeking the firing of five police officers involved in the Oct. 2014 shooting, reports the Chicago Tribune.

One of the five police officers is Officer Jason Van Dyke, who shot McDonald sixteen times — the horrific moment captured on video and seen around the country.

The other four officers — Sgt. Stephen Franko, Officer Janet Mondragon, Officer Daphne Sebastian, and Officer Ricardo Viramontes — are suspected of attempting to cover up the shooting.

It is now up to the Chicago Police Board to decide whether to fire the five officers. According to the Chicago Sun-Times,

"Van Dyke was charged with murder in November 2015, on the same day the city released the video to the public. The criminal charges stemmed from an investigation by the Cook County state’s attorney and FBI."
