Movers, shakers and policy makers convened over the weekend for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner (aka Nerd Prom) at the Hilton in Washington, D.C. Late-night personality Jimmy Kimmel hosted the gala evening, which showcased President Obama's much lighter (and snarkier) side in the company of some of his closest friends, allies and at least a couple of frenemies.

Below we've assembled for you five memorable moments from the 2012 Nerd Prom:

Kimmel mourns the GOP candidates who have dropped out of the presidential race. And in a passing comment about gay marriage, the funnyman asks, “Aren’t all marriages kind of gay?” In marriage the man promises to “never touch another woman the rest of [his] life. Then they put jewelry on each other and dance."

In an attack against Obama, some have raised criticism against the president for having eaten dog meat. In a subtle retort, Obama has fun with this advertisement, sponsored by the “Woof PAC,” warning the dogs of the nation of Obama’s "dog socialism." In the ad... “America’s dogs can’t afford four more years of Obama… for them that’s 28 years."

And if one dog joke wasn’t enough, Obama further embraces his dog-eating past with a joke about pitbulls and hockey moms. (And he also unleashes a friendly poke at Newt and Mitt.)

Obama uses some pop culture references -- he mentions the “texts from Hillary” meme, and then moves to show what he thinks he’ll look like in four years.

And finally, POTUS closes with a preview of what to expect in his next term. “In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term I’m going with Young Jeezy,” he says as he and Michelle laugh. He also plans to win the war on Christmas, re-pass health care, and start a new campaign, “It’s Raining Men.” (14:28)
