Here's a little round-up of links from the web you may have missed this week:
- A study from the Annals of Internal Medicine found that med-school graduates from historically black universities (Howard, Morehouse) are more likely to practice medicine in underserved areas.
- Environmental group Food & Water Watch brought critical attention to BP's second-largest oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantis.
- The Walt Disney Co. is shutting down most of its ESPN Zone restaurants -- a devastating blow to its employees.
- Nicholas Kristof encourages folks to sponsor a rat for Father's Day.
- The BP oil spill is a massive despoiling of God's creation that will impact the ecosystem for generations. Our response must think far ahead. Make a pledge to be a good steward for the next generation.
- The July 2010 issue of Sojourners magazine is now live online. Read about men and anger , the persistence of patriarchy in the church, nonviolence and Palestinian Christians, and the secrets to intentional community -- and much more!
Also a note about the commenting system. As many of you may have noticed, we have temporarily ceased tiering comments into conversational strings because it was disrupting our blog layout. We ask for your patience while we work out a better solution.
Finally, we'd like to wish a fond farewell to our web editor Ryan Rodrick Beiler. For 11 years he has faithfully served the Sojourners community with grace and excellence. He and his wife will be transitioning into a three-year post as program administrators with the Mennonite Central Committee in East Jerusalem. We pray for traveling mercies and overwhelming blessings upon them both.
Jeannie Choi is (the new!) web editor at Sojourners.
