WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Rev. Jim Wallis released a brand-new podcast to interview presidential candidates ahead of the 2020 election. In the second season of Wallis’s “Soul of the Nation” podcast, candidates discuss moral questions at the intersection of faith and politics.
“Opening up a conversation about faith and public life, from many religious perspectives, will help dispel the myth that the right owns religion—no one does. The upcoming presidential election is an election about moral choices. Even Christians who claim they are “not political” will still make a choice to vote for or against the status quo. From unapologetically faith expressive candidates to candidates who haven’t talked about their faith at all, this podcast is a home for rich conversations about the role of religion in 2020.” says Rev. Jim Wallis. "In addressing poverty, combatting racism, solving the climate crisis, protecting human dignity or leading with personal integrity, how does faith inform the moral leadership our electorate is desperately seeking?"
In the one-on-one interviews, Wallis and the presidential candidates envision how an open dialogue about faith could help to change our country's current political landscape and embolden social justice among people of faith and conscience.
The first episode of the series, featuring Sen. Cory Booker, can be found here. In the following weeks, additional episodes will be released on Wednesdays.
