THE ARTICLE "From the Church to the Union Hall," by Margaret Hoven and David Earle Anderson ("Culture Watch," September-October 1996), ends with the words, "...for surely, in new ways and new places, the songs of working people will rise again." How aptly put. As evidence that the tradition of "singing for the union" is indeed alive and growing, I offer the chorus of "Rise Again," the new anthem that is sweeping the ranks of organized labor:
I can feel the spirit building,
Soft as a whisper but loud as a roar.
And I can feel something a-stirring,
Like I never have before.
We've been quiet too long, my friends,
But the working folks of this country will rise again.
