I enjoyed reading Danny Duncan Collum's article ("Why Glenn Beck Hates Community Organizers"). It gave me some ideas about organizing some like-minded Christians and congregations in our small town. However, I am at a loss to understand why Beck, an enemy of empowering the poor, was on the cover.
This cover comes as Beck organizes a rally in Washington on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, seemingly in direct opposition to what Dr. King preached. Vincent Harding’s column ("The Content of our Character," September-October 2010) removing some of the sentimentality from King’s epic speech seems like a more fitting tribute than does giving Beck a cover shot.
