It was good to learn in Lynne Hybel's "The Worst Place on Earth to Be a Woman" (September-October, 2010) how local churches and groups such as World Relief are aiding the victims of the sickening epidemic of rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I wonder, though, why Sojourners doesn't more fully address the violence. Illicit profits made there don't just come from minerals; there is also money to be made selling weapons to militias. Also underreported is the meddling of other countries, particularly Rwanda and Uganda -- whose leadership have strong ties to the U.S. military.
