Personal identifying information (data about you) is collected when you subscribe, through the webpages hosted on our site. These webpages are hosted for Sojourners by our Circulation Service Provider, Cambey & West Inc.

This Personal identifying information (PII) includes your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number that you provided. You will have also provided a credit card to pay for your subscription, and while needed for processing your payment, the card number is not stored. This is a thorough and rigorous testing of the security, proving the inability to penetrate and acquire any data stored within it.

When you submitted a subscription form hosted on our site, you entered into an agreement with us to provide you the subscription you requested in exchange for PII and the subscription fees. Your data will not be shared with any third parties without your express consent.Your PII is retained for the duration of your subscription.

Since this is your data, at any point you have the right to:

  • access and review your data

Sojourners Community Comment Covenant

  • I will express myself with civility, courtesy, and respect for every member of the Sojourners online community, especially toward those with whom I disagree, even if I feel disrespected by them. (Romans 12:17-21)
  • I will express my disagreements with other community members' ideas without insulting, mocking, or slandering them personally. (Matthew 5:22)
  • I will not exaggerate others' beliefs nor make unfounded prejudicial assumptions based on labels, categories, or stereotypes. I will always extend the benefit of the doubt. (Ephesians 4:29)
  • I will hold others accountable by clicking "report" on comments that violate these principles, based not on what ideas are expressed but on how they're expressed. (2 Thessalonians 3:13-15)
  • I understand that comments reported as abusive are reviewed by Sojourners staff and are subject to removal. Repeat offenders will be blocked from making further comments. (Proverbs 18:7)
  • You are responsible for all the activity of your account, whether by you or by any third party you've authorized to use your account.

Prohibited Materials and activities: You agree not to post any material or content that is obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening, libelous, abusive, bigoted or hateful, constitutes SPAM or unauthorized advertising, invades anyone's privacy, or encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any local, state, national or international law or regulation. You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. In addition, you agree not to disrupt or interfere with the Site, or to alter or tamper with any information or materials on or associated with the Site.

Civility and Expression of Ideas: Sojourners encourages forum dialogs that include a wide range of viewpoints — there's a wealth of knowledge available from forum members. It's just as important to consider that this is a community with many opinions and preferences, so if you do not agree with another user's post, by all means debate, but do not attack. Personal attacks are prohibited and are justification for temporary suspension and/or termination of your account.

Editing and Deletions: Sojourners reserves the right, but undertakes no duty, to review, edit, move, or delete any material provided for display or placed on the Site or its discussions, at its sole discretion.

Copyrighted Material: You are responsible for ensuring that any material you post on a discussion — including but not limited to text, photographs, and sound — does not violate the copyright or any other personal or proprietary rights of any third party or is posted with the permission of the owner(s) of such rights. Material on the Site is for your personal use only. The Site contains copyrighted and other proprietary information. You may not in any way make commercial or other unauthorized use, by publication, re-transmission, distribution, or otherwise, of material obtained through the Site, except as permitted by the Copyright Act or other law.

Use of Material Posted by You: Postings to the Site are not private. You grant Sojourners the unrestricted right to use, reproduce, modify, translate, and distribute any material you post to the Site in any medium (now in existence or hereafter developed), and for any purpose, including commercial uses, and to authorize others to do so.

Indemnification: You agree to indemnify the Site producer and its employees, agents, and representatives, and to hold them harmless, from any and all claims and liabilities (including attorneys' fees) which may arise from your submissions, from your unauthorized use of material obtained through the Site, or from your breach of these rules, or from any such acts through your account. You further agree that the Site provider is not responsible, and shall have no liability to you, with respect to any material posted by others. If you are dissatisfied by such material or any other material on the Site or with any of the Site's terms and conditions, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Site.

Fees and Payment: Sojourners reserves the right to at any time in the future charge a membership fee for access to portions or all of the Site. You would not be charged, however, unless you agree in advance of such fees. At the time of the advance notice of this change, you would have the option and opportunity to cancel your account.

Termination: Sojourners reserves the right to terminate or suspend your membership to the Site with or without cause at any time.

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Site is provided "as is," and the Site provider hereby expressly disclaims any and all warranties, express and implied, including but not limited to any warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

You use the Site and the information and material on the Site at your own risk. The site provider shall not be liable for any damages allegedly sustained arising out of the use of the Site, including for viruses alleged to have been obtained from the Site and including any consequential, special or similar damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
