the world in the rain

The world is one scared woman in the rain.
Across the cups of silver she runs
To find a house, any house where her laugh
Will build a fire, where in some tiny place
The sun’s old fiddle plays a song.

MARION SCHOEBERLEIN collects angels and lives with her cats, Trixie and Twinkie, in Elmhurst, Illinois.
