The 38th Annual Nazareth to Bethlehem Christmas Peace Pilgrimage will be Saturday, December 13, 1997. The pilgrimage is sponsored by 17 community and church groups, among them Episcopal, Baptist, Lutheran, Mennonite, Friends, and Church of the Brethren. Molly Rush of the Thomas Merton Center in Pittsburgh will speak at the closing rally. She was one of the Plowshares Eight imprisoned for their witness against nuclear weapons. The Charles Bannerman Memorial Fellowship Program offers longtime activists of color the opportunity to take sabbaticals. Bannerman fellows receive a stipend of $15,000 to take three months away from their usual work and do whatever they think will best re-energize them for the work ahead.
