Countering Blind Hatred

I JUST DISCOVERED Sojourners the other day, and thank God I did. Many thanks to you and to Aaron McCarroll Gallegos for the commentary on the Christian response to homosexuality. For once my heart is hopeful, knowing that there are people out there who are actually trying to live the gospel. Previously all I knew was the enormous tragedy of Matthew Shepard's murder and the blind hatred of people like Rev. Phelps. It is unfortunate that so many have only the ugliest examples as a basis for understanding what it means to be a Christian. My prayer is that your voices will ring louder and clearer in asking us all to examine our hearts and our true motives.
