Our daughter Lydia attends a public Waldorf school. The principal begged parents last year to make their Christmas gifts, saying, "If you make a doll, you've taught your child that she has the resources to make what will please her. If you buy her a remote control race car, you've taught her that entertainment is expensive and supplied by a corporation."
