God and the Holy Father

It’s rather disconcerting to read Marie Dennis in “Calling of the Shepherd” (April 2013) asking the new pope to give heed to the demands of Catholics. I couldn’t help but read this as a very consumeristic, human-centered approach to Christian faith, as if we get to tell God (the Holy Father, at least) what to do.
