Politically Green

READING YOUR November-December 2000 issue, I wondered why I hadn't encountered more people in the Green Party movement speaking from a place of faith. The Greens support single-payer universal healthcare, an end to the death penalty, a reduction in military expenditures, reparations for slavery, an end to the sanctions on Iraq, and a focus on waging peace in U.S.-foreign relations. Greens are also strong advocates of environmental stewardship, fair trade, and more rights for workers here at home. I've decided to form a local discussion group to focus on the connections between faith and Green politics.
