Begun by Andrea Riccardi in 1968, the community of Sant’Egidio is a Rome-based lay association that now includes 60,000 people in 70 countries. Crossing Borders

In Trails of Hope and Terror: Testimonies on Immigration, Christian ethics professor Miguel De La Torre—the son of an undocumented immigrant—gathers the stories of recent migrants and immigration activists. He focuses on Latin American immigrants to the U.S., looking at why people choose to immigrate and the effects of borders and economies, and concludes each chapter with a poem, prayer, or song.
