When in doubt, have a party. Our editor, Jim Wallis, spent October on the road doing a promotional tour for his new book, The Soul of Politics. We took his return on November 3 as an opportunity both to host a booksigning and to have an open house in our sort-of-new magazine and outreach location in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C. (Actually we moved our office here almost two years ago. But we're still unpacking.) Besides being an opportunity to do some overdue office cleaning, the open house was a chance to reacquaint with old friends, meet some new ones from the area, to bless our space with hospitality, and to welcome Jim back with a touch of style. It was also, perhaps, a chance to flush out any lingering negative spiritual residue: The building we now share with a Latino social service agency served for a time as the Nicaraguan embassy during the Somozas' reign. While we're officially settled into our office (except for a few lingering boxes of books in search of shelf space), there are other changes in the works for Sojourners.
