Communications Director

Lori Arguelles (she/her) brings decades of experience as a journalist, communications expert, and nonprofit leader to her role as Sojourners’ communications director. A native of Washington, D.C., she grew up in Santa Barbara, Calif., where the Pacific Ocean inspired a lifelong commitment to creation care and environmental stewardship. Among her previous positions, Lori served as president and CEO of the Alice Ferguson Foundation for Environmental Education; president and CEO of the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation; director of corporate communications for Girl Scouts of the USA; and director of public and constituent affairs for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

She received her undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in broadcast journalism and political science and her Master’s in public communication from American University.

Lori is the proud mother of two teenage daughters and four fur babies. She enjoys reveling in God’s glory through hiking and kayaking. She’s also an avid reader and enjoys the art of cross-stitching.
