Digital Content and Community Specialist

Kassandra “Kassy” Tapia serves as the digital content and community specialist at Sojourners. A proud Mexican American from a small border town in Arizona, Kassy draws inspiration from her love for God, her love for people, and a daily iced coffee. Growing up on the border gave her a rich cultural perspective and opened doors for her to serve others — particularly through translation services that bridge communities.

Kassy’s journey in the nonprofit world began in her local church, where she worked with junior high and high school students. She later served Latino families with preschool-aged children at a family resource center. Through AmeriCorps, she joined a local Public Allies cohort and served as the youth enrichment coordinator at a family homeless shelter. One of the most transformative experiences in her career was moving across the country to become an associate pastor in a bilingual, multigenerational congregation.

Behind the scenes, Kassy is a creative at heart. Since 2011, she has worked as a freelance photographer, videographer, and digital designer. She will soon complete her degree in graphic design from Grand Canyon University, further formalizing her creative expertise. Her passion for color theory, branding, and intentional content creation has led her to roles as a creative director and social media manager.

Today, Kassy continues to serve in her local church as part of the worship team. When she’s not creating or connecting, she’s spending time with her husband and their two sons, playing soccer, or watching The Office. Kassy is thrilled to be part of the Sojourners team, where she channels her gifts to advance the gospel through meaningful digital content and authentic community engagement.
