As we explore alternative sources of energy, one that is growing in popularity is "wind farms" with row upon row of rotating turbines. They're quiet, non-polluting, and are expected to produce as much as 20 percent of the electricity demand by 2030.
The problem, as my father, an avid birder, often pointed out, is that they are deadly to birds. Many of the best areas for wind are also bird migration routes
