Aboriginal pastor Ray Minnieconn issued a strong challenge to the Australian church today, bringing a fresh approach to the story of the Good Samaritan.
“I think Jesus, in his heart of hearts, has this huge desire that we won’t become like those priests and Levites, and just leave this to others to deal with,” he said, in a video reflection filmed for Common Grace’s Love Thy Neighbour campaign.
“But [he desires] that we would be the ones who would turn aside, come over and heal the wounds and hurts that we have created, or you have created, on the Aboriginal people.”
Pastor Ray says that the Good Samaritan story leads Christians to ask, Where is the church in the healing of these wounds?
“The healing of our wounds becomes the healing of your wounds as well,” he says.
