Prayer Beyond the Election

I believe in prayer. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe that there is an immanent/transcendent/Divine Love/Truth/Mystery/Nameless Other/more than we can think and know that hears and answers our prayers. I believe with Alfred Lord Tennyson that "more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." The Friday before the election, the 6 a.m. prayer meeting at People's Baptist Church and I prayed as we'd been praying for this election in January. We prayed for Barack Obama and for the other candidates, but we also prayed for our nation.

Believing that praying God's will means praying God's word, we prayed 2 Chronicles 7:14
