Right now at Sojourners we are feeling the energy of all the activities planned around the inauguration-the concerts, worship services, MLK day of service, and of course, the parade and inaugural address.
We know that many of our friends and supporters will be traveling to D.C., and we would like to invite all of you to join Sojourners for a time of prayer, reflection, and celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19, 1-3 p.m.
Forty years after Dr. King's assassination, our country will swear in its first African-American president. Jim Wallis, founder and CEO of Sojourners, and Vincent Harding, a personal friend of Dr. King and leader during the civil rights movement, will provide reflections on this transformative moment for our nation and world.
The event will be hosted in the GALA Hispanic Theater, located directly next to the Sojourners office, one block north of the Columbia Heights Metro station. If you'd like to join us, please RSVP for the event. We look forward to seeing you Monday!
Jennifer Svetlik is an organizing assistant for Sojourners.
