Showcasing Unsung Heroes in the Middle East

During my interview in Sojourners (December 2010) with Julia Bacha, director and producer of the film Budrus, we elaborated on the ordinary grassroots activists she met in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories who are involved with nonviolent efforts to end the occupation and resolve the conflict. As we watch the news coverage of the conflicts transpiring in Egypt and elsewhere in the Arab world, let us not forget those who are working behind the glare of the media spotlight to find peaceful ends to these conflicts.

I will express my disagreements with other community members' ideas without insulting, mocking, or slandering them personally. (Matthew 5:22)

I will not exaggerate others' beliefs nor make unfounded prejudicial assumptions based on labels, categories, or stereotypes. I will always extend the benefit of the doubt. (Ephesians 4:29)

I will hold others accountable by clicking "report" on comments that violate these principles, based not on what ideas are expressed but on how they're expressed. (2 Thessalonians 3:13-15)
