Video: President's Address on Comprehensive Immigration Reform

100702-obama-auPresident Obama spoke at American University yesterday and called for both parties to come together to fix a broken immigration system.

President Obama is keeping hope alive for comprehensive immigration reform legislation this year. Earlier this week, a group of immigration advocates, community leaders, policy experts and faith leaders met with the president and his cabinet to discuss the state of comprehensive immigration reform. In that meeting, the president reaffirmed an earlier commitment to the faith community to speak publicly about the issue soon. He also reminded leaders that he is strongly opposed to SB1070, the Arizona immigration law, and that he wants to see a bipartisan process based on the proposal presented by Democratic senators.
