Prayer, Renewal, and Action on Immigration Week

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 18, "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them." God is showing up in a powerful way amongst immigrants and non-immigrants alike all across the country, as thousands of people of faith gather to pray for the crisis of immigration in our nation. Over 100 vigils in 75 cities are taking place during "Prayer, Renewal and Action on Immigration Week" from February 13-22. Events are being held in churches, synagogues, and community centers in big cities and small towns alike, from Norcross, Georgia, to Aurora, Colorado, Dallas, Texas, to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Many of the vigils are multicultural, multilingual, and interfaith, reflecting the broad diversity of the immigrant experience in the U.S.

Participants at these public vigils are united in calling on Congress and the new president to demonstrate the moral courage necessary to pass an immigration bill that upholds the dignity of individuals and families. They are also fervently praying for the immigrants of their communities, who in absence of real reform face discrimination and fear on a daily basis because of their immigration status. Join the growing movement of concerned and dedicated people of faith as we pray for compassion to enter the national debate on immigration and ask God to be near us and among us as we act for justice.
