Let me give a word of support to Brian McLaren's God of love. When Jesus suffered a violent death on the cross (the violence was all ours, not God's), had every right to retaliate, and instead chose to forgive, the foundations of our world -- which were based on retributive justice, vengeance, and scapegoating -- were shattered and all things became new.

I understand that comments reported as abusive are reviewed by Sojourners staff and are subject to removal. Repeat offenders will be blocked from making further comments. (Proverbs 18:7)
