About The Event

Event Contact:

Join us on Friday, June 3 at 12 p.m. ET for a time of connection and community focused on learning more about fashion, faith, and social justice. Together with other people of faith, we will take action to create a world where women, men, and all people are given equal respect, opportunity, and protection.

During our Clothed in Glory Gender Justice Conversations, we will learn about:

  • How fashion has been used as a tool for liberation throughout the Bible
  • How to have a liberative reading of biblical texts that have been used to oppress bodies
  • How faith has been complicit in policing the clothes folks wear
  • The history of fashion and gender justice movements
  • Fashion in current social justice movements
  • How fashion and a faithful theology of our bodies and clothing work together to strengthen justice and liberation movements

You will be invited to take action through:

  • Individual efforts to practice justice in your daily life
  • Sharing what you are learning with others
  • Communal exercises to bring more justice to your local communities and to engage with issues of justice together with others
  • Advocacy actions at the federal level aimed at supporting laws and policies that bring forth justice in areas that intersect with fashion and gender justice such as immigration, climate change, labor rights, racial justice, and more
  • Reflecting on these experiences by sharing your thoughts, insights, and actions with others on the call
