When Kids are Sold for Sex

When kids are sold for sex - there is no excuse.

That is why Jim Wallis signed onto a full page ad in the New York Times calling for Village Voice Media to shut down the "Adult Services" section of their Backpage.com website.

Craigslist.com shut down their "Adult Services" section after pressure from advocacy groups calling out the increasing use of the site for prostitution and the exploitation of minors. Thirty-six prominent clergy signed the ad and joined 51 attorney generals in agreeing that it is time for Village Voice Media to shut the section down.

Groundswell, a project of Aburn Seminary, convened the multi-faith coalition. Rev. Dr. Katharine Henderson, President of Auburn Seminary said, "Village Voice Media CEO Jim Larkin and his Board of Directors need to stop Backpage.com from serving as a platform for the sex trafficking of girls and boys immediately. For over a year, advocates have demanded action, but the responses they have been given are half-measures and delays. We are tired of Village Voice's delay tactics."
