Not all churches nor Believers in Jesus observe this event which isn't even a part of the 1st Century AD Church practices.

This is like letting the late Jerry Falwell or Marion G. "Pat" Robertson speaking for Christians. The FRC is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In his writings, Paul sometimes made references to things which the reader/hearer at the time already understood what he was talking about. Other than Paul mentioning such a baptism one time, it is not mentioned elsewhere.

I checked my graduate course textbook for New Testament Theology and the author of the text made a similar statement. It could be a practice done only by the Corinthian church. Or it could have been a practice created with no real support by Paul and he was making fun of the practice while pointing out that there will be a resurrection.

I thought this blog would be about the "It Gets Better" program for school children who are not exclusively heterosexual in their orientation. It's a very misleading title.

Sure, kids have been bullied in school for many reasons. And sometimes, the bullying was done by those who thought a boy wasn't manly enough for them and they called him all kinds of gay related epithets. But, it was more rare when I was growing up for girls who were considered to be tomboys; they rarely got teased for that.

If anyone didn't believe in Jesus before they died, they weren't a saint. This is a stupid holiday anyway. People have also ignored the original meaning of "martyr" to make it mean some who was murdered for what he believed; but, "martyr" as a noun merely means "witness."

"Christ" is Jesus' heavenly position title. I prefer to say, "Jesus loves you."

I have never been a Catholic/catholic nor a Protestant. I never belonged to any church or denominational church with the Roman Catholic Church or Martin Luther in its official history. To be evangelical, you are required to tell others about the good news of Jesus' free gift of salvation. Church affiliation doesn't matter in that situation. I am a practicing Pentecostal by experience.

And... calling yourself "Believer" like the members of The Way" did instead of the epithet "Christian" created by Greek-speaking pagans in Antioch, Syria.

Seems like Sojourner's bloggers need to do a Pentecost Occupation in the spiritual sense since none of them seem to have experienced the Pentecostal Baptism experience of speaking in unknown languages. One time, a Sojo blogger called Pentecostals "Holy Rollers" which is a derogatory epithet.

"Christmas?" It ain't in the Bible. That's the name of a Roman Catholic Church service.

We sort of had one of those holiday wars here in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday. The downtown event was called "The Parade of Lights." But, the one in Southwest Tulsa was called the "Tulsa Christmas Parade." No stores were open when the parade was going on. Most of the stores went to the suburbs decades ago.

Well, they chose to have it go on a "street" that was actually through the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center. So, all of the stores that were normally open on Saturday evening just stayed open so that parade goers could shop before and after the parade that started at 6 PM.

By the way, both parades had a "Santa Claus." That character has no connection with Jesus' birth.

Mary did NOT remain a virgin all of her life. If she had wanted to remain one 40 days after Jesus was born, Joseph would have had legal reason to divorce her. Besides, after Jesus started his ministry, his human brothers, all sons of Mary and Joseph, decided that Jesus was out of his mind and Mary went with them to take Jesus back to Nazareth.

I don't approve of Perry believing that being gay is a religion. And I don't approve of people pretending to be Jesus and making stupid videos in His Name either.

"Charismatic Christianity has been controversial ever since the Holy Spirit was reported to have ‘descended’ upon St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Van Nuys, California, in 1960."

Oh really? The Charismatic movement actually started in the mid-1950s when members of main-line Prostestant churches and catholic denominations (big and little "c" which includes Episcopal) began to be filled with baptism of the Holy Spirit. John Osteen, Joel's father, was a Southern Baptist before he became a Charismatic evangelist.

Bob Dylan was a fake believer in Jesus. Many entertainers make claims to find Jesus just to make a profit from their viewers and/or listeners. Dylan even same as admited that he played the role of a hypocrite.

Why do you have anything about this idiot comedian who mocks God and Jesus very often on his fake news show.?

If he were merely playing such a character in a movie, it might be different; but, he is a co-writer of his own show. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." He uses a lot of filthy language on his program.

What church denomination celebrates a dead man named "Martin?" The Roman Catholic Church denomination is NOT "The Church" and that is because THE CHURCH is everyone who believes in Jesus and follows his teachings.

Don't you mean "When Saints Became Soldiers?" I became a scripturally correct saint when I accepted Jesus' salvation when I was 8 years old. My being in the US Army did not make me a saint. None of the Believers in the Bible times had the title "Saint" before their names.

Being a good neighbor to a veteran should be more than just saying, "Thank you for your service." But, I rarely heard that after coming back from Vietnam and being released from US Army Active Duty in 1968. Most of the thank yous have been from other Vietnam Vets.

Those who have been in the US Military since World War II ended in 1945 have been willing to defend the rights of Americans living in the US States and Territories. But, the US Military has not literally done that since WWII ended. My service in Vietnam (Feb 15 67 -Feb 13 68) wasn't even about defending the USA. It was about defending what rich Americans had invested in S. Vietnam before the Vietnam Conflict started and that included money invested in off-shore drilling in the South China Sea.

I was out of college for more than a year when I was drafted. I was 23 going on 24. I get people telling me what to do to apply for the benefits I feel that I need; but, they only tell me that in their offices. They NEVER check with me in person at my place to see what I have done or help me with what do do next.

One of my Facebook friends who is also a Vietnam and lives in Florida called me one time and we talked on the phone about seeing the mental health folks that the VA sent us to. He told me that when the woman asked a question which had no connection with his military service and his current situation, he would say "50 cents." She asked him why he kept saying that and he told her "That's the price of eggs in China. I am  saying that when you ask a question that has no bearing as to why I am here."

The woman psychiatrist I had asked a number of questions as if she was doing intake for a new patient. She had an uppity attitude and if I needed a mental health professional to talk to, it certainly would not have been here. Since I have a rather low service connected disability rating, I only get to see a VA mental health professional a few times a year.

Asking questions about my childhood years didn't have any bearing on being under attack in Vietnam. And as far as my relationship with family members were concerned, I actually had not lived at home for more than a year when I was drafted.
