Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, a favorite of the conservative and tea party sects, has stated he does not favor the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). So, say goodbye to caring for the disabled and those special restroooms and parking spaces. Get the government out of our lives and let the market decide, he says!
I think alot of people have been converted by actions and behavior of groups like the FFA. They are very effective and growing stronger in every state. The followers have been converted to a form of fundamentalism that disparages others to the extreme. It is an effective organization business model-take advantage of the power of gossip and people's darker sides to grow your revenue and power.
Well, he didn't keep the secret God told him to keep did he? Anyway, didn't Robertson say when he ran for President that in a prayer God told him to run and implied God picked him?
I sometimes think he certainly has a successful media business posing as a religious one to avoid paying taxes.
What about the Scripture (Render unto Caesar) imploring us to pay our taxes?
It's really bad when church leaders try to endorse a candidate too. They give people the impression God is for their candidate and God is against the other candidate. They divide the community of faith. I ran for office once and the mega church in my community and largest church in my state backed my opponent. No interviews with me so I could tell them about my church background (Methodist) or I was even President of my Sunday School class for a few years and on the church's board. It was clear since I was not the Republican candidate I could not get their support. It was very disheartening. I ended up winning anyway. Just a few months after my win my ultra conservative opponent made the news. Arrested for child sexual molestion and sodomy at the church. Not one, but six different victims. Now he is serving a 50 year sentence in jail. No apologies ever came from the church leadership that promoted him.
Official rhetoric has helped fuel an escalation of tension between the United States and Iran. Do recent negotiations mark a change in direction, or just a temporary detour from the highway to military attack?
