Man, a conserative can't even make an observation without getting demonized here. I wasn't saying they were all like that, in fact I said I knew they weren't. I also didn't mention the color of their skin. You made that assumption. They were both Black and White. I have never seen a Hispanic do that. Have you really never seen that? I have really helped out a lot of people. I can't say what I have done. Jesus said "do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing". Do I have that right? I know many conservatives and they have made it their mission in life to help the poor. So please don't say it is only the progressives that help. That is simply not true. I have been involved in So Baptist Churches for over 34 years and missions was a huge part of our budget and our outreach to our community.
I think BlueDeacon has a huge chip on his shoulder and a need to be right on every subject. He cannot possibly see any point of view but his own and HE is right. He knows more about everything than anyone else.

I am not saying that Barrack is a Muslim, but what Christian when referring to the Koran says the holy Koran using their accent? I find that rather odd.
Are ya kidding me? Do you not watch MSNBC? At least daily Keith Oberman was calling Bush names and attacking him personally. As well as Rachael Maddow, and Ed Shultz. Go to YouTube. Keith used to call Bush a Facist. Told him to wear a t-shirt that said that. They were very hard on him. I think him name calling was what eventually got him fired. Wasn't Ed who called Ann Coulter a Slut? The left calls people on the right names all the time, you are just so used to hearing it, it just doesn't register anymore.
I wasn't on my high horse. I was just saying what I have observed living in my area. I did volunteer in a crisis center for several years, 3 days a week, all day. I have a heart for the truly needy. We gave out food, clothing, gas vouchers and paid utility bills. I also do lots of things on my own. There is a real need out there, but there is also abuse of the system.
The "poor" people who pay for their groceries in front of me at the store have iphones, their nails done, coach purses and are buying lots of junk food and once I even say one young lady buying Perrier water! Then they load them all up in their late model caddies or lincoln town cars. I guess if you have to live in your car those aren't too bad of ones to live in. I don't mean to be cynical and I know there really are people hurting out there, but I see lots of fraud and abuse of the system where I live. there needs to be over site of the system. I don't think taxing the rich more would be a real solution. They would only find other ways to spend that money. this government thinks it can just spend it's way into prosperity. If we have a budget at home, we try to find ways to trim our budget, maybe cut out movies, eating out, we don't think of borrowing more money!
This reminds me of the time Jim called for a boycott of Glenn Beck's sponsors. The first amendment is what makes America great. If it were not for Fox news and talk radio there would not be any conservative voices out there.
Maybe I don't , I haven't ever been on welfare. I only know what I have seen from my personal experience. We have always worked for everything we have. We started out with $1000 and a color tv in the early '70s and we worked hard. I'm not so sure you know as much as you think you do! If you work hard in America you can make a decent living and raise your kids to love God and country and have them live the American Dream. We cannot all be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, but we can teach our children to use their God given talents to the best of their ability.
I am well aware of the story of Mary and Martha. Please quit doubting my knowledge. Did you google Oprah's experiment? It makes for interesting reading and gives a insight into why the poor stay poor. We have got to do more for them than just keep them on welfare. There has to be some way to break that cycle. Redistribution of wealth is not the answer. They have no idea how to handle money. I have a niece who lives on welfare. She and her husband got a settlement of about 12k. Instead of paying bills, they went out and bought bling. It was gone in a week. They have skipped out on every apt they have ever lived in. There is no helping them. They have burned all there bridges with the family. They have taken from the system. They could get jobs if they wanted to, but they choose not too.
I have a personal relationship with Jesus, and definitely believe that Jesus is Lord over my life. I don't think we're really too far apart in our beliefs. Have you ever seen any of the poor whom you've ministered to get out of their circumstances? I remember a few years ago Oprah tried to take 100 women out of poverty, got them apartments, jobs, a new start in life. By the end of one year, very few, I think it was less than 15, had stayed with their new life. Jesus said the poor will always be among you. Since welfare started in the '60s the number of people on it hasn't changed very much. It just keeps going on throughout from generation to generation.

You need to read verse 36 in Acts 10. You stopped too soon. Then read verse 43. Or just try John 3:16. Doesn't get any more basic than that.
I live in the Bible Belt. Abortion and homosexuality are always topics in any elections. As they always have been. Define biblical justice for me. I am not familiar with that term. When you were saved were you told that the way to salvation was through Jesus Christ? If so, when did you change? 1John has a lot to say about Jesus being the only way to Heaven. If you don't think Jesus is the way, who do you think he is?
I don't know what you are talking about our secular goals. I went to the Internet after you made that statement about it being about just Revelation and that is not what the consensus was that I found. Very few said it was interpreted that way. Book could be the entire Bible. I am not going to change anything. I only mentioned abortion and homosexuality because those are two big issues now. I happen to believe that people are born that way and should be given equal rights under the law. Pretty surprising viewpoint from a Southern Baptist I know! I do read a lot of scripture. I have had awesome SS teachers, who have been to seminary.
My point is-if you are not preaching that Jesus is the only way to Salvation, you are not preaching the Truth. If you are preaching something other than that, back it up with scripture for me please. I'm trying to understand what others have said on blogs on this site. They try to justify abortion and homosexuality by saying the bible doesn't address these. How about "thou shall not kill" and it is an abomination for a man to lay with another man? I'm just trying to understand the progressive mindset, please believe me, I'm being sincere, so please don't be rude to me. What about the last few verses of Revelation that says do not add anything to the Bible or take anything away from it?
I don't know what kind of Churches y'all attend, but the last four I've attended, over the last 30 years were very mission minded. Domestic as well as foreign. You cannot add to the Bible to include other Religions and be a Holy Bible believer. It is against what Jesus preached.
So, is there no one posting on these blogs that believe that Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven? Have you all "evolved" beyond the Bible to include everyone who believes in God is going to get to Heaven? That a loving God only requires belief in him and not his Son? Jesus said no one gets to the Father except through me. I would welcome some thoughts on this.

Why are y'all thinking I am hating? Yes, Christians believe in the God of Abraham, Jews too, as well as Mormans, And Muslims. That is not what it takes to be a Christian. Jews and Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the risen Son of God and according to the Holy Bible that is what it takes to be saved. I am just telling you what I believe. I don't hate anyone for their different beliefs. I just ask that people don't hate me because of mine. I have a right to my Religion. It is the one this Country was founded on. It is the reason we fought the British, so we could have the freedom to practice our own religion. Let's keep it that way!
I assure you I don't want a theocracy. My Bible tells me that only through Jesus can you be saved. I realize that Progressives have expanded their definition of who God is to include other Religions. Mohammad has no place in my Religion. I believe that all Religions have the right to practice their Belief's however they see fit. I want them to respect mine and I will respect theirs. Don't come into my country and try to do away with my religious symbols and holidays. Just respect them and go on. This country was here long before you got here. Don't take God off our money or out of our Pledge.
I agree that Muslims want the best for their kids. I'm sorry but, they do not worship the same God that I do. My Bible is the inspired word of God, their's is The word of God Told to the prophet Muhammad. I don't know know if they give back to their community, so I can't address that.
As long as insider trading is legal for our politicians in Washington, We will have a corrupt government.
I don't remember reading in my bible that you have to sell everything in order to be saved. To be saved you must believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins. We need to have a personal relationship with him. We are saved by grace and cannot work our way to heaven. Our salvation does not depend on anyone else. We will stand before God alone. It upsets me when our President says stuff like his salvation depends on the collective. He has a lot of influence over people and that is not true.
Giving to museums,the arts, etc... Are not tax deductible. I am not bashing Jim. Just making an observation from reading his writings. As far as selling all my possessions and following Jesus, that is not possible in this day. That would put me living off the govt. and I refuse to do that. I am sorry if you interpret my comments as snarky - that is not my intentention. I'm trying to get y'all to see that conservatives are not bad people. I just read a lot of very negative things about your fellow Christians on here.
We are not racist, quit listening to MSNBC. They are trying to divide Christians. At this time in history we need to be coming together in our faith. We all believe in the same God. We all believe in helping the poor and disadvantaged, no matter what you're hearing. We are all Americans who basically want the same thing. Freedom to raise our children in our chosen religion, send them to a safe school, have them grow up to be responsible adults, and give back to our community. I don't know what started all this hatred between Christians, but I'm sure it grieves the Lord greatly to see his people acting this way. Americans help each other and don't ask party affiliation, that's ridiculous! Do you think the people helping the Katrina victims asked if they were rep. or dems? Of course not! I for one refuse to be a party to this infighting. I love you libs!
