I totally agree with you and appreciate your comment. In no way was I trying to defend Rush Limbaugh. Both men were totally out of line with their comments. My point is simply that destructive and demeaning anger can be found in abundance on both sides of the political spectrum. I'm tired of all the attempts to paint one side as the chief offender over the other. If we are going to stand against demeaning comments made about women, then lets stand against all of them--no matter who makes them or who they are made against. Let's not politicize these things to score party points. To me, it seemed the article was more concerned with using the incident to create a caricature of a political party than defending a woman's dignity.
Refresh my memory, didn't Ed Schultz of MSNBC call Laura Ingraham a "slut" on his nationally televised show? I believe that was on or about May 25, 2011. I would be interested in reading your article regarding the impact of anger in the democrat party. Please provide a link. I'm sure you linked his comment to the democrats just as you linked Rush's to the republicans.
I agree. We don't need the government involved in marriage. Marriage/civil unions are nothing more than contractual agreements that can be drawn up by lawyers. Why establish realtionships on vows of personal commitment to love each other for life when lawyers can draw up all kinds of contracts with as many clauses as we choose. Let the government figure out how to tax us and the lawyers figure out how to marry us and leave religion out of it.
Jim, I'm glad that you have never compromised any of your Christian values when pulling the lever in the voting booth. Unfortunately, in all my years of voting I have never found a candiate that is not flawed in one way or another. Come to think of it, I have never come across another human being in any setting who is not flawed. I guess I'll abstain from voting this year.
I totally agree. I believe the churches ought to open their doors to the occupy crowd, not only on Thanksgiving, but every day of the week. The church ought to allow these folks to occupy their facilities, feed and clothe them daily, and provide whatever else they need as they continue the call for social justice. These folks should not be sleeping in tents out in the cold when heated church buildings remain unused nightly. Come on church, let's open our doors, our hearts, and our wallets to whatever these folks need!
Official rhetoric has helped fuel an escalation of tension between the United States and Iran. Do recent negotiations mark a change in direction, or just a temporary detour from the highway to military attack?
