SojoMail is taking the week off for Thanksgiving, but we couldn't let the beginning of this season of promise and paradox pass without comment.
Is it ironic or strangely appropriate that the day set aside to thank God for our many blessings is immediately followed by the biggest shopping day of the year - that consumer frenzy in which we attempt to answer the somewhat oxymoronic question: "What do you get for the person who has everything?"
In messages Tony Campolo has given recently, he's proposed a radical answer to that question: "NOTHING!" And Tony isn't the first to suggest that "yes, Virginia, there will still be a Christmas even if you don't spend, spend, spend."
