Over 1,100 Nationwide Screenings--Attendees Will Push Poverty as Central Election Issue
Significant Screenings in Key States: Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio.
Washington, D.C., 9/26/2012 --
As part of a broader campaign to bring to light the new faces of poverty in the aftermath of the recession, national Christian non-profit Sojourners has produced a documentary film called The Line, from Emmy-Award winning writer and producer Linda Midgett. The thirty-minute film uncovers the emerging and entrenched faces of poverty in our country—such as the suburban used-to-be-banker, who now relies on a food pantry; to an aging career fisherman, whose shrimp-catching business has been devastated by the recent oil spill in the Gulf.
The world premiere, which will be held in Washington, D.C. on October 2nd, 2012, will be accompanied by over a thousand simultaneous screenings--in churches, campuses, living rooms, and community centers across the country. Immediately following the film will be a panel discussion featuring the president and CEO of Sojourners, Jim Wallis, The Line director Linda Midgett, and other invited guests.
