New York City –At the annual Folio Awards breakfast in New York City last week, Sojourners magazine was presented with an honorable mention as one of the best “Lifestyle” magazines in the country.

The Folio Awards, among the most prestigious in the magazine industry, honor excellence in magazine editorial and design. This year’s competition received more than 2,000 entrants.

Sojournersis an award-winning magazine offering a faith-based perspective on politics and culture whose mission is “to inspire hope and action by articulating the biblical call to racial and social justice, life and peace, and environmental stewardship.”

O, The Oprah Magazine received the first-place award in the Lifestyle category. The other finalists—Glamour, Redbook, and Sojourners—received honorable mentions.

“Any time you go toe-to-toe with Oprah and live to tell the tale, that’s a victory!” said Sojourners editor Jim Rice. “Seriously, it’s a great honor to be recognized by Folio as one of the best magazines in the country—and there’s some poetic significance in Christian social justice being acknowledged as a ‘lifestyle’ in such company.”

Previous awards won by Sojourners include the 2012 Best in Class General Interest Magazine from Associated Church Pressand the 2013 Folio Award for Best Spiritual/Religious Full Issue.
