Reverend Jim Wallis Interview with David Brody

Date: February 5, 2009

The Brody File spoke with Sojourners President Jim Wallis over at The White House today. Reverend Wallis is one of the members of President Obama's Advisory Faith Council. He met with the President in the Oval Office Thursday. Watch my interview with him. It runs about 11 minutes but if you really want to get a sense of what this faith council is all about you really should watch it all. He has keen insight and is a very important player in all of this.

Reverend Wallis has worked hard on the issue of poverty reduction. It is his signature issue. He wants to make sure poor people are included in the recovery plan by providing them additional food stamps, child tax credits and unemployment insurance extensions.

By the way, make sure you watch the end of the interview. Jim Wallis has a reputation for being a "progressive leader” and indeed, on many issues he is. But he's actually a conservative Evangelical theologically and pro-life.
