Jim Wallis Announces Three-Month Sabbatical
President and CEO of Sojourners Steps Back from Washington to Write and Reflect

Washington, DC January 4, 2012 – Rev. Jim Wallis, president and CEO of Sojourners, has announced a three-month sabbatical to focus on his family, reconsider the political environment, and prepare to write another book. Beginning the first week of January, Wallis will split his time between monasteries, private work in Washington, and time with his two young sons and wife.

In the midst of a harried political season, Rev. Wallis’ sabbatical will let him look at the polarization in Washington with a fresh perspective that cuts beneath the political day-to-day.

In his most recent blog, Wallis writes:

Veteran politicians from all points of the ideological spectrum tell me the political climate in Washington today is the worst they have ever seen.

Polarization is the new way of life in American politics.

It’s time to delve into the places that supply our better values and instincts, to the practices that renew our faith traditions and ethical priorities.

It is time to engage in the spiritual reflection that would restore the moral compass our politics and economics have lost.
