IMMIGRATION REFORM: NumbersUSA, evangelical group run ads
The Evangelical Immigration Table, which supports immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship, is running this radio ad targeted at evangelical Christians. It is running nationally on the Salem Communications Network, which owns 95 Christian radio stations, and on other stations in 13 states The group also is paying for “pray for reform” billboards in four states.
The ads are narrated by Russell Moore, president-elect of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, and Lynne Hybels, co-founder of WillowCreekCommunityChurch in Illinois, one of the country’s largest congregations.
“The Gospel calls us to love our neighbors,” the ad says. “The lives of 11 million of our neighbors hang in the balance as Congress seeks to reform our immigration system. The Gospel calls all of us as Christians to compassion and justice. So I’m asking you to join a growing movement of Christians who are appealing to our political leaders for immigration solutions that respect each person’s God-given dignity….”
