Faith leaders call for immigration reform

Several San Diego pastors have joined faith leaders from across the country in supporting bipartisan immigration reform through letters and through a week of prayer that kicks off Monday.

The group, members of the Evangelical Immigration Table, sent letters to Congress urging the legislative body to support a bill that reflects biblical principals as part of its “Pray for Reform” campaign. Those principals include family unity, secure national borders, fairness to taxpayers and a path toward earned citizenship.

Pastors from ten states, including California, are part of the effort. Locally, Outreach Pastor Tom Theriault of Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Rev. Deborah Mitchell of Presbyterian Urban Ministries in San Diego, and Rev. Jeff Pearson of La Jolla Presbyterian Church signed the letter.
